In the minute, it’s a brand that’s dividing opinion.
As idolized since it is hated, you need to have seen a certain amount of it everywhere, for the great displeasure of the many critics, who believe that in France, Canada Goose may be the new Moncler inside a negative sense.
But on the other side from the fence, there are numerous fans who, for love nor money, would not spend a winter without their Canada Goose clothing (and who I feel simply have recently joined the club ).
Important: I lived in Montreal from your end of August 2012 to June 2013, so I wore my Canada Goose Outlet in several conditions (from nearly -20°C with wind, as much as 8°C after i returned to France for 3 weeks), so I think I actually have a fairly extensive, clear view on the quality of the merchandise.
So, like a lover of men’s fashion, beautiful materials and good fitting clothing: exactly what do I think about a bulky parka?
Before I report back, I’d prefer to spend some time to take into consideration Canada Goose’s brand image, which is rather ambiguous…
Hate it or like it – 50 Cents feat. The Game
Ah…the price. This is basically the flag the critics of Canada Goose proudly wave. For almost all haters (and believe me there are lots) you’re a sucker when you get a Canada Goose because:
In reality, everything would be better inside an ideal world if Canada Goose wasn’t so expensive, as even the biggest haters are unanimous over the quality of the pieces.
Considering the caliber of the item, you get yourself a lot for your money. I’ve looked and honestly, you are unable to find anything cheaper with similar quality (warning, my criteria did not just boil as a result of ‘it has to keep me warm’, I’ll come back to that a bit afterwards).
People often talk with me about North Face, which surprises me whenever. If there’s an extremely expensive brand, it’s that. Honestly, to pay for nearly 450 dollars for a 100% synthetic parka (fur and down), made in China, now that’s Extremely expensive for what exactly it is. Learn more about synthetic vs down insulation here
Then there’s a factor that’s never taken into consideration by the critics: the cut.
Because it needs to be noted that it’s hard to find parkas cut along with several of the Canada Goose designs. I’ve rightly said some designs, as there are some that can make you look just like a walking refrigerator.
walking refrigeratorSnow Mantra, 1200 Canadian dollars. It’s the warmest design, guaranteed to help keep you warm only -60°. It’s utilized by Alaskan miners and people who are employed in the oil industry in far-flung icy parts around the globe. There’s a strap on the shoulder that can help you save in an emergency. You won’t look anything special with this lying on your back, but a minimum of you’ll stay alive.
military inspirationBanff, the most modified design of the emblem, with a nice enough military inspiration. It’s only flaw? No pockets to help keep your hands warm: it’s inside your interest to have some gloves!
As being a side note, when you’ve spent the past 5yrs looking for the very best cut items of clothing to your figure, it’s a weighty argument. However I completely realize that it’s not really the truth for anyone. Inside my case, I simply can’t overlook it.
‘Yes, but you’re investing in a product!’
I’ll tell the truth along with you, that’s a few things i thought to start with, nevertheless it isn’t the truth.
Really, not at all. As an example, Quartz Nature is actually a less popular Quebec brand containing a similar prices as Canada Goose. Likewise, Kanuk, which happens to be 100% a Quebec brand (the workshop is definitely next door to my home) is even more expensive than Canada Goose, with prices easily exceeding the 800 dollar mark!
KanukA Quartz Nature parka, 620 dollars, using a quality that’s comparable to Canada Goose, although with a totally different brand identity for Quebecers, as the products are made in Quebec (french-speaking). And in many cases at that price, nobody dares to claim that you’re only investing in a brand…
Why then these prices? The fur that you just see on the hoods is costly. As being a reason for interest, Kanuk sells interchangeable furs for the hoods for between 200 and 300 dollars. And then there are no secrets: for any piece that’s not created in China, with down and high quality finish, you quickly reach the 500/600 dollar price, or even more. It’s the genuine worth of things.
Kanuk (The best Quebec coat brand, but which costs big money and is also directed at a somewhat older audience) has this fur strip which alone costs…270 dollars!
I’ve gone off with a slight tangent, but it seemed necessary because, in my view, Canada Goose is a brand that may be unfairly stigmatized.
Right, so what’s it actually like wearing a Canada Goose parka on a regular basis?
There’s no part of drawing the suspense: in the wintertime conditions of Montreal, it’s spectacular.
I am just not surprised that the brand is given to workers in certain governmental bodies, as you have the feeling that its design is caused by a hellish experience of the cold.
For me, there are numerous brilliantly thought through details. That goes from your wire around the hood to the thick, robust zipper (a detail sometimes missing from North Face designs, hello on the uphill battle when you’ve got gloves on) on the two pairs of pockets for the hands lined completely with fleece, without forgetting the thick fleecey chin-protector.
And does it really make you stay warm?
Completely. It’s just as if you’ll never have the cold again. Even that slight morning freshness, or when you’re awaiting the bus, or once you walk home right after a winter’s night out, you are never cold. I can’t remember being cold once this winter. The safety up against the wind is exceptional. One weekend, I had been with a carnival in Quebec, that may be to state spending six hours outside with a temperature that’s approaching the -20°s, however with some wind (I do not know how much this g0ose how the temperature feels, but say at the very least an extra -10°) and it should be noted that you’re protected perfectly from the cold. Even at -20°. Even the duration of the zipper is protected, meaning the wind just never gets near the inside of your parka.
What’s more, the hood is super well-made, and even though you don’t input it up, it protects your ears. Basically this hood that protects your mind perfectly from high winds is really great, really effective.
Alternatively, these aren’t the clothes for a sustained sporting activity. If you’re skiing at -15° and it’s windy, you’re bound to sweat. Originally, Canada Goose Jacket Sale were created for workers doing a great deal of standing around (which explains why bouncers love the company). Extreme mountain climbers tend to get brands like PHD, with equally impressive technical features. The Wiggy brand has some completely fire-proof parkas…
Nonetheless we’re still lightyears from a Wooyoungmi coat having an absolutely perfect cut. But having tested a few, Canada Goose is just one of those rare parka brands to worry about the cut of some of their designs. Therefore I was surprised to locate that this shoulders of Banff, Chateau, Ontario and Citadel designs (by far the most ‘tight-fitting’ designs, things relative) are already worked tirelessly on and so are relatively high. If chosen well for your size, the parka doesn’t hang off your shoulders, it’s neat and tidy.
Finally, and so i was surprised, it is usually the case using the most urban pieces which a size S is actually a ‘true S’. Similarly, Canada Goose even does a size XS that is good to understand.
